Behind the Scene: Reconstructed Dream

Arc 03 was emotionally strange to create.
It’s the first time Rei wasn’t fighting something visible. There was no silence to scream against — only a reflection that kept answering before she could ask.

We started writing “Reconstructed Dream” with one concept:

“What if you woke up in a world too perfect to question?”

That one sentence kept looping in our notes.
It wasn’t meant to be dystopian. It was meant to feel safe.
Dangerously safe.

The first visual we planned was a corridor — white walls, gentle ambient glow, no shadows. But when we asked the AI to generate this, we noticed it didn’t feel “wrong” enough. So we started inserting slight warps:
• The light was too symmetrical.
• The smile on her face didn’t match the eyes.
• The harmonica was polished — no scratches.
It was like we were rebuilding Rei in a lab.

That’s where the title came from.
Reconstructed.
Not remembered.
Not awakened.
Just assembled.

The lyric process was surprisingly painful.

One line — 「ねむりをなぞるように」 (“tracing the sleep that was assigned to me”) —
took three days to sit right.
We had five versions of that line, ranging from rage to resignation. But in the end, we chose the one that whispered.

Because that’s what the system wants:
For you to doubt quietly.

This was the first song where the harmonica almost didn’t make it in.

We considered replacing it with synthetic ambient tones — to show that Rei had forgotten how to play.
But in the last draft, we added it back.
Out of tune. Slightly off-tempo.
Like her subconscious refusing to be rewritten.

Emotionally, this one drained the team.
No one cried. No one collapsed.
But we all walked away feeling… clean.

Too clean.

That’s when we knew it worked.

Rewatch the MV.
Look at how the silence is designed.
Every flicker, every pause, every blink — they were scripted to feel natural.
But nature doesn’t follow rules this tightly.

And if you feel uneasy watching it…
then maybe, just maybe —
you’re waking up too.
